Orthotic Devices

An orthosis is defined as an externally applied device used to modify the structural and functional characteristics of the neuromuscular and skeletal system.  These devices can be prescribed for virtually any part of the body and provide support for a weakness or deformity.  Orthotic devices can be either custom made or custom fit, depending on what is the most appropriate for their specific condition and needs.  A custom made device requires fabrication over a positive model of the patient.  A custom fit device is from a pre-made device and is customized to fit the patient by the skilled orthotist.

The staff at HOPE is highly trained in the selection, design, fabrication and fitting of all of the various orthotic devices.  With 6 orthotists on the HOPE staff, the combined experience of this team is over 100 years.  This team of orthotists works collaboratively to provide the best outcomes for each patient.  The goal of every orthotist at HOPE is to provide an orthotic device that maximizes the functional abilities of each individual.
